Review:
Okay, I adore this series.

All I've got to say is that when you finish a book, and instantly jump up searching for the next one to see if the cockroach is okay, you know the author is darn good.

Gregor continues to grow as a character, and I've got to tell you, I hope one day when I have kids, that I have a son like Gregor.  This kid is awesome.  He's smart and strong and wants nothing more than to protect and help his family.  I love him.

The world that Collins has created is amazing.  She has managed to weave a tale in which creatures that are classically seen as evil or disgusting (rats, spiders, bats, etc) are seen as friends.  Not an easy feat.

In this second volume of the series, Gregor returns to the Underland after the cockroaches grab his baby sister Boots (who they adore) from Central Park when he's supposed to be watching her.  Upon his return to Regalia, he finds out they took her for her own protection, as the rats are hunting her in order to fulfill an ancient prophecy.  In order to stop them, Gregor agrees to go hunting for the Bane, a huge white rat that is a symbol of the rats' power.

This is a great tale of adventure and danger and excitement that's still suitable for younger readers.

4 stars!
